About Us
Hi! Welcome to our travel journal, where we will share our adventures as we live, work, and travel North America in our house on wheels.
We both grew up and met in the foothills of western North Carolina. For 16 years we called Durham, NC home. Many of our weekends were spent tent camping in the mountains or at the beach or planning our next international trip. We were dreaming about the future when we could always be out exploring new places. In 2018, when the reality of the amount of freedom we had from not having kids (not by choice) and a new opportunity at Michael’s work came along, we realized that our travels did not have to be short excerpts from our life. We could full-time RV, visiting different locations for as long as we wanted, and have the normalcy of our home and furbabies with us.
In 2020, after a couple of years of planning, we sold our house, gave away most of our things, moved into an RV, and hit the road.
Michael’s ability to work remotely is what makes our adventures possible. He is in procurement with a company that builds science laboratories and spends his workweek looking at construction drawings. He also spends a lot of time being Mr. Fixit because these houses on wheels sure do need one!
I plan and document the travels. I also do all the daily living chores to maximize time together for adventures. I am a former laboratory research specialist and occasional volunteer.gov volunteer.
We started full-time RVing as a family of 4, with a senior golden retriever, Nala, and a senior kitty, Lynx. Adventuring with them was awesome while it lasted. Sadly, Nala passed away in December 2020 and Lynx in April 2022, both at 15 years old.
Our current rig is a 2018 Arctic Fox 25W towed by a 2022 Ram 3500. When we are dry or dispersed camping, it’s powered by 600ah of lithium batteries and 1300W of solar power.
We travel with our mountain bikes and kayaks and are always on the search for scenic views and new trails. We love visiting National/State Parks and small towns. We are also looking forward to visiting faraway family and friends and making new ones.
We are happy that you are along for the ride!
