Catching Up: More Maine & a New Truck

I’ve gotten a little behind, and this hodgepodge will bring our blog up to date. Since my last post, we’ve spent 3 more weeks in Maine, traded our truck in Massachusetts, and have started exploring Connecticut for the first time!

First was Camden, located in midcoast Maine. Camden Hills State Park, where we stayed, has tons of hiking and the very popular Mount Battie overlook of the town and harbor. Our site was close to the park entrance, and we watched tour buses roll in and out every day.

We went to see two lighthouses in the area, the Rockland Breakwater Light and Curtis Island Lighthouse.

And hiked the Maiden Cliff trail.

Next, we headed inland in search of affordable full hookups to catch up on laundry. Nothing to share from this week except a photo of Pumpkin Patch RV Park in Bangor since it was just a work and chores kind of week.

On Saturday, we moved to Freeport for a return visit to Winslow Memorial Park. We were in site 8 this time and were surprised our solar panels kept up since we had a huge tree and a few cloudy days.

We love the views from the waterfront sites at Winslow!

The highlight of this week was driving over to Lewiston to meet Steve and Diane, new friends we met in Newfoundland, for a fun and funny night at the Great Falls Comedy Club!

The following Saturday we moved to Village Green Campground near Charlton, MA for a night because we planned to visit the highly rated Tree House Brewing.

But, apparently, it was time for us to pay a hefty joy tax on our RV life. The emissions system on our truck, which had been acting suspiciously for several months, needed an intervention. We had discussed trying to fix it, but couldn’t plan for that until we got back to NC later this Fall. And then we began to wonder if we’d even make it back to NC without a breakdown. We ended up choosing the easiest and least stressful option of just getting a new one. So instead of spending the afternoon at the brewery, we spent it at a dealership.

We did make it to the Tree House just an hour before last call, which ended up working out because there wasn’t a line, and we had the nicest bartender who gave us all the free tastings we wanted. We stocked up on to-go beers because they are only sold at their breweries.

Next up is a couple of weeks in Connecticut!
