Enchanted By Santa Fe, NM
Santa Fe is the place we’ve been most excited to visit in the “Land of Enchantment” state. I was probably primed to love Santa Fe by my Grandma. It was one of her favorite places and she even decided to become Catholic while visiting one of the churches as a young adult. Now that we’ve visited several of them, I wish I could ask her more about it. We spent the second week of October boondocking in the Santa Fe National Forest, a mere 15 minutes from downtown. This free spot seemed almost too good to be true. Santa Fe is such a beautiful, historic, and multicultural city. Its Pueblo…

Lakefront Camping In Northern Utah
Michael gives me very little input regarding our destinations so when he requested a return to southern Utah to visit the 3 “Mighty Five” National Parks that we missed in 2021, that’s where we are headed! It was a 500-mile trek from Jackson, WY. On our way south we stopped at a couple of northern Utah State Parks, where we had two of the best campsites we’ve ever had! Our first stop was Bear Lake State Park, honestly because it had full hookups. We arrived on Labor Day when the campground changed to be first come first serve and we scored an incredible lakefront site. Bear Lake is a huge…

Day Trips To Seattle & Mount Rainier National Park
Between our trip to NC and our fridge debacle, we didn’t spend nearly enough time exploring western Washington and it will certainly be a summer destination another year. However, this time around, Rainier View RV Park was about an hour’s drive to both Seattle and Mount Rainier National Park and we were determined to spend a day at each of those. It rained the entire week that we were there in May, but couldn’t let the rain stop us on a weekend day. We started at Pike Place Public Market for breakfast…and stayed for lunch. Since we rarely eat out for convenience, but as more of an activity, we researched…

Moochdocking In Montara, CA
If you blink while driving up Highway 1 between Santa Cruz and San Francisco you might miss the quaint San Mateo County coastal town of Montara. Montara is currently one of our favorite places to visit because it has it all – a beach, mountains, and a 30min drive from everything a city like San Francisco has to offer. But mostly, it has our friends Peter and Jake!! We had visited them back in 2019 so this wasn’t our first time in Montara. Ever since we got our travel trailer, we’ve been wondering if we would be able to get it into their extra driveway. We finally have the answer!…

Lake Mead, Las Vegas, & More Red Rocks, NV
There are a lot of camping options of every type at Lake Mead National Recreation Area. We settled into a spot at Government Wash, a popular and free (with a National Parks Pass) dispersed camping area close to Las Vegas, planning to stay for 2 weeks. In Nevada, we are now on Pacific Time and will be for the next few months. Michael works Eastern Time hours. This works perfectly for us since we are morning people anyway and this schedule gives us enough daylight hours to explore in the afternoon before the sun sets around 5 pm. The first thing we had to do was check out the Hoover…

History Lessons In Beautiful Boston, MA
Boston wasn’t a huge detour off our route south and we have always wanted to visit! We stayed for one week at Minute Man campground in Littleton, MA, which put us within commuter train distance from downtown Boston’s North Station. The RV park was close to the Minute Man National Historical Park. This NP commemorates the events that occurred on April 19, 1775, when Paul Revere went on his midnight ride to Lexington and Concord to warn militiamen that British troops were coming to raid supplies. After a skirmish in Lexington, where Revere was captured, it is at the North Bridge in Concord that militiamen opened fire on the British…

Heading East: Carbondale, CO & Saint Peters, MO
In mid-May, it was time to leave the southwest and start a 2-week trek back to NC to see our family! We drove way too much on the weekends but our workweek stops were great! The first stop was in the mountains of Colorado and the other right outside of St. Louis, Missouri. Our intense driving schedule was slightly complicated by picking up our new kayaks! We knew the particular kayaks that we wanted after trying out our friend’s Pungos by Wilderness Systems. After trying unsuccessfully to find 2 of them used, we decided to start calling stores that were along our route. Turns out, they were also hard to…
